Plenty of walks and cycle routes right outside the doorstep
Located on the edge of the Peak District, Latham Hall is perfectly situated for getting out and about in the countryside. There are footpaths directly from the property, leading to Ilam and Dovedale, the local village of Calton and to the Weaver Hills.
There is excellent walking in this area, with many lovely walks in the Dovedale area or the Manifold Valley and further afield.
There is also excellent cycling, both on and off-road. The Manifold and Hamps Trail follows the line of a former light railway from nearby Waterhouses (3 miles away) to Upperhulme and there are numerous quiet minor roads on which to return.
The house has ample shed space for bikes to be stored and there is a utility room for washing and drying dirty clothes after a days exploring.
Maps of local walks are provided for you to use during your stay.
Alternatively, if grand houses are what you are interested in, then both Chatsworth and Haddon Hall lie not far from Bakewell so they are easily reachable. Closer to hand though is the lovely restoration jewel that is Sudbury Hall, which lies to the south of Ashbourne.
